Aaron Rodgers still is gimpy as the New York Jets start their second week of OTAs. A bad calf means limited for reps for the aging NFL star.

The 39-year-old Rodgers strained his calf a week ago. He wasn’t sure exactly what happened. “Tweaked my calf in a little pre-practice conditioning,” Aaron Rodgers said at a media availability last week. “So I just took a vet day…Was just running, I guess?”

But a vet day as evolved into a vet-week-plus. Jets coach Robert Saleh said he’s hopeful Rodgers will be back at full speed by Friday.

He did go through throwing drills, Wednesday, as OTAs continued at Jets headquarters at Florham Park, NJ.

Aaron Rodgers rode stationary bike on sideline

However, when the drills required Rodgers to use his legs, he sidelined himself. He didn’t sit around and do nothing. Rather, he rode a stationary bike to keep his leg muscles warm and loose. Rodgers’ right calf is wrapped to his knee. (He’s wearing No. 8. Legendary Jets quarterback Joe Namath gave his permission for Rodgers to wear 12, his old number with the Packers. But Rodgers declined. By the way, wish Namath a happy 80th birthday).

QB and Top Gun movie star buddy went to Taylor Swift concert

A tweaked calf muscle certainly hasn’t kept Aaron Rodgers from getting to know his new city. On Saturday night, Rodgers and friend Miles Teller, who starred in ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ the summer movie of 2022, attended the giant Taylor Swift concert at MetLife Stadium. It appears they returned for the Sunday concert as well. Photos posted on social media showed the two sitting in a special VIP area.

Aaron Rodgers even shared some snaps from the concert on his Instagram page. The caption also encouraged fans to come to the Jets games. You’ll probably notice that Rodgers’ photo gallery also includes some video clips. But you can’t see him dancing.

Rodgers wrote: “Incredible weekend at my new home MetLife Stadium with some special friends Miles and Keleigh Teller, a bunch of new ones, and the legendary Taylor Swift, who absolutely rocked the house for 3 1/2 hours each night!!! She is truly a master entertainer and epic human, and Phoebe Bridgers was spectacular as well. Thanks to the great security folks, the sweet fans that I met, and all the hospitality from the Tour both nights. Hopefully we can make MetLife that loud this year. Come check us out.
