Aidan Hutchinson injury: Lions star carted off after gruesome injury
Aidan Hutchinson suffered a major injury in the third quarter this afternoon against Dallas.
It was significant enough to where medical personnel carted him off the field. The game was stopped for several minutes as both teams came onto the field before he was taken away.
Based on replays alone, Hutchinson could be looking at a serious matter regarding his lower leg. Still, nothing more will be known about it until Detroit finishes their win over Dallas and the team provides an update on him either postgame or to start this next week.
Prior to his exit, Hutchinson had three tackles, one being for loss, and a sack as part of three quarterback hits against the Cowboys.
Hutchinson, the Lions’ top defensive player, is in his third season in the NFL. Over his five games this season, he has totaled 19 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. That was by far the lead in sacks for them after doing that in every year so far with Detroit. It was also good by a half for a league lead in sacks coming into today’s games.

Hutchinson has posted 122 tackles, 62 QB hits, 28.5 sacks, 10 deflections, and four fumbles and recoveries over his pro career so far in 39 starts. In that time, he was second in the voting for Defensive Rookie of the Year after being the No. 2 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s also coming off his first Pro Bowl appearance last season.
Detroit will have more on Hutchinson and his status in the coming hours if not into tomorrow. However, solely from how it looked, it could be a consequential confirmation of it both for him and for the Lions’ franchise.
