Another open car enters the Daytona 500! Anthony Alfredo is back in the NASCAR Cup Series with Beard Motorsports for this year’s Great American Race. Alfredo will be sponsored by Fortify Building Solutions in the No. 62 Chevrolet.

Last season, Anthony Alfredo qualified for the Daytona 500 with Beard Motorsports. He finished P27. This year he hopes to make his third career start in the race. Alfredo wheeled the 62 car to a P6 finish at Talladega in April 2024 as well.

Without a full-time ride announced this season, Alfredo may have a puzzle of a schedule this year. However, he knows he will have a shot to make the Daytona 500. That is more than many drivers can say.

Alfredo announced the news on his social media page and the team shared a press release this afternoon with the media. I think he has a great shot at making the big race.

Anthony Alfredo made his first Daytona 500 start in 2021 when he was driving for Front Row Motorsports. That Front Row team was definitely not on the level that the organization is on now.

Since 2021, Alfredo has been racing in the Xfinity Series. He has full-time seasons with Our Motorsports and BJ McLeod Motorsports under his belt. He was able to take Our Motorsports to 15th place in points in 2022 and 2024.

When it comes to Alfredo, teams know that he is reliable. He isn’t going to tear up a lot of equipment and he will likely get the most out of his car regardless of series. At 25 years old, Alfredo still has time to land a full-time career in NASCAR longterm, but right now it looks iffy. At least for 2025.

Perhaps an impressive showing at Daytona will be enough for a team to take a chance or multiple teams to take a chance on Anthony Alfredo. He does have reliable and loyal sponsors.

Anthony Alfredo adds another open entry to Daytona

With the official entry of Beard Motorsports and Anthony Alfredo, the Daytona 500 field continues to grow. Five open cars are now confirmed and there are more that are fully expected to place their names in the hat as well.

JJ Yeley and NY Racing, Anthony Alfredo and Beard Motorsports, Mike Wallace and MBM Motorsports, BJ McLeod and Live Fast Motorsports, and Helio Castroneves and Trackhouse Project 91.

Rick Ware Racing is expected to field an open No. 15 car. That driver is not yet known. Jimmie Johnson will likely enter the 84 car for Legacy Motor Club. Then there is Martin Truex Jr. He will race, reportedly, for Tricon Garage in a car prepped largely by Joe Gibbs Racing.

The No. 50 AmeriVet car could enter and there are rumors of another team entering as well. If all of those cars enter there will be 10 open entries. Only 40 cars get into the race. Four open spots for ten cars means six teams go home upset and frustrated. Qualifying will be exciting this year.
