Golf etiquette requires the person who hits a hole-in-one to buy a round for everyone at the nearest establishment. So, when PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka learned about Michael Block’s ace on the 15th hole, he wanted to remind him about the tradition.

Koepka won his third PGA Championship on Sunday, shooting -9 for the tournament. Surprisingly, that wasn’t the biggest story from the weekend. Instead, Block — a 46-year-old PGA club pro — stole headlines.

Block hit a hole-in-one off the fly on the 15th hole during the final round at Oak Hill on Sunday. It’s a moment that went viral and will be remembered as the shot of the tournament.

As Koepka walked off the course after securing his third Wanamaker Trophy, he reminded Block about golf etiquette.

“Hey, I heard you’re buying drinks,” Koepka said, both guys laughing after.

Even though Koepka didn’t witness the moment live, it’s still pretty cool for him to acknowledge Block’s major accomplishment. And it was far from the only surprise of the tournament.

Block carded a +1 for the tournament, finishing in a tie for 15th place. That secured him a spot in next year’s PGA Championship without having to go through the qualifying process.

Considering the incredible journey Block had over the last four days at Oak Hill, we’re guessing he won’t mind buying a few drinks at the bar.

Block’s home club erupts after hole-in-one

Without question, Block’s ace on the 15th hole was the most-talked about moment during the 2023 PGA Championship. It added to the incredible storyline, and do drain the shot on the fly? Hollywood couldn’t write a better script.

When Block’s golf ball flew into the cup, everyone at Oak Hill went berserk. Block, himself, was stunned.

The coolest moment might’ve come a video surfaced from Block’s home course — Arroyo Trabuco in Mission Viejo, California. The club hosted a watch party for the final round on Sunday. When the shot went in, everyone watching erupted with excitement.

It was an awesome sight.

At the end of the round, Block got emotional talking about his once-in-a-lifetime experience this weekend.

“It’s amazing. I’m living a dream, I’m making sure I enjoy this moment. I’ve learned that after my 46 years of life that, it’s not gonna get better than this. No way. No chance in hell,” Block said, with tears in his eyes.

Block didn’t go without thanking his playing partner and everyone else for their incredible support throughout the week.

“Rory was awesome, man. Everyone was awesome,” Block said. “I can’t thank everyone enough for being so cool to me. And cheers to the 29,000 PGA professionals in the world. This is for you guys.”
