Bryce Young injury update: Panthers QB's status vs. Packers revealed

Bryce Young missed the last game for Carolina due to an ankle injury suffered in Week 7. It’ll be only a one-game absence for him, though, based on his designation this morning.
The Panthers updated their injury report on Friday, going into Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers in Week 9. Young, after fully participating in all three practices this week, was no longer on it, making him available for the matchup at Lambeau Field.
Young had been trending well the past few days, coming off that injury over the past week, namely with him being a full participant in the practices since Wednesday. It’s just now official that he’ll be back as their starting quarterback against the Packers on Sunday.
Young suffered an ankle injury in a 13-6 win on the road over the New York Jets. That sidelined him in a 40-9 loss to the Buffalo Bills last weekend, with Andy Dalton starting in his place, going 16-24 (66.7%) for 175 yards and an interception.

So far in his third season in Charlotte, Young has played well for the Panthers. He is 138-224 (61.6%) for 1,288 yards, averaging 184 passing yards per game, with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. That’s currently his best completion rate of his career so far, with him still on pace for that to be the same when it comes to his passing stats in yardage and touchdowns.
Carolina is also off to its best start since 2021, which includes Young’s entire career there. The Panthers are 4-4 overall, albeit with two of the wins coming against two of the league’s worst teams to this point in the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets out of the AFC East. But, they also have a 30-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons to currently be second in the NFC South behind only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Panthers have a difficult schedule remaining over their final nine, starting this weekend against the Packers, the No. 1 seed currently in the NFC, along with five divisional games in the NFC South and the remaining three being against other playoff hopefuls in the conference in the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, and Seattle Seahawks. Still, Carolina should have much better chances in those with Young available, starting against Green Bay on Sunday.
