Bubba Wallace has won the 2025 Brickyard 400, and he continued a tradition at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. After the race, Wallace was seen kissing the bricks for winning one of the crown jewels of NASCAR.

Wallace won his first race since September 2022. He came close a handful of times in the last few years, but he finally broke through on Sunday and clinched a spot in the playoffs.

Bubba Wallace’s victory on Sunday snapped a 100-race winless streak. He is the first Black driver to win a race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but the victory didn’t come easily for him. The 2025 Brickyard 400 featured a rain delay and two overtimes, which led to Wallace holding off Kyle Larson for the lead despite being low on fuel.

Sunday’s win was big for Wallace because he can now focus on the postseason. He will be one of 16 drivers competing for the NASCAR Cup Championship. The playoff field features drivers like Larson, three-time Cup Series champion Joey Logano and his 23XI Racing boss Denny Hamlin.

“Unbelievable. To win here at the Brickyard, knowing how big this race is, knowing all the noise that’s going on in the background, to set that all aside is a testament to these people here on this 23 team,” Wallace said after the race. “It’s been getting old right around the cut line.”

Wallace also talked about his nerves as the race went to a second overtime. “ I’m wore out. I thought about every which way to Sunday besides driving a race car, having that red flag,” he said. “Oh, my gosh, man. Just so proud of this team. That adrenaline rush is crazy because I’m coming off that right now, and I’m wore out. I just want to thank everybody behind me right here, all these guys, all these men and women at Airspeed for making this possible.”

Wallace continued: “It’s pretty cool — officially. Daytona was Daytona, but to overcome so much and to put these people here in Victory Lane, that’s what it’s about. It’s about these people that continue to push at me, believe in me. Man, just so proud, and I appreciate all you guys.”
