Dale Earnhardt Jr. reacts to CW reportedly considering changes to NASCAR broadcast booth
The CW is looking to make changes to the NASCAR broadcast booth in 2025, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. has a strong opinion about it. On X (formerly known as Twitter), Earnhardt reposted the Sports Business Journal‘s story of The CW considering calling some races remotely next year and reacted to the news.
“I hope they do not,” Earnhardt wrote.
It’s clear Earnhardt doesn’t want to see the broadcast team calling Xfinity Series races from the NASCAR Studios in North Carolina. Nothing has been finalized, as both sides are still talking and potentially finalizing a deal.
In 2023, NASCAR announced The CW would be the new home of the Xfinity Series in 2025. The network is airing the playoff races due to the agreement it has with NBC.
“Landing the NASCAR Xfinity Series is a game changer for The CW and our CW Sports division and represents another important building block in our programming strategy,” Dennis Miller, President of The CW, said in a press release in 2023. “Live sports are the most watched television content and with The CW’s national reach, moving NASCAR Xfinity Series to The CW will transform and elevate the viewing experience for the series and its fans.

More on The CW joining the NASCAR family
“The CW has quickly become a destination for sports, as the NASCAR Xfinity Series joins our growing slate of sports programming, including INSIDE THE NFL, ACC college football and basketball, LIV Golf, and the motorsports documentary series 100 DAYS TO INDY. Beginning in 2025, The CW will have 48 weekends per year of live sports programming. With ubiquitous distribution across one of the nation’s five major broadcast networks, NASCAR Xfinity Series races on The CW will deliver more access for fans and far more revenue opportunities for The CW and its affiliates.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been doing some broadcasting work since returning from full-time racing in 2017. Starting next year, the NASCAR Hall of Famer will be an analyst for TNT and Prime Video.
“It is such an exciting time to welcome TNT Sports back to NASCAR,” Earnhardt Jr. said in a network release. “I remember watching the races on TNT back in the day, and it’s so nostalgic to see them return to the sport and to be a part of their team. I’m looking forward to joining their team and also getting the chance to work with Bleacher Report creating content that our fans will enjoy.”
