Dallas Cowboys activate linebacker DeMarvion Overshown from PUP list

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Dallas Cowboys have activated linebacker DeMarvion Overshown from the PUP list. Activating him means there is a chance Overshown plays on Monday Night Football vs. the Las Vegas Raiders. A huge get for the Cowboys, hoping to find defensive improvements after the bye week.
“The Cowboys have activated LB DeMarvion Overshown from the PUP list, ending his long road back,” Rapoport said via X. “A potentially significant addition. They also activated rookie DB Shavon Revel from NFI.”
Injuries have been a major story in the professional career of Overshown. Getting drafted by the Cowboys out of Texas, Overshown brought some athleticism and energy to the linebacker room. However, he wound up missing all of his rookie season and the final four of 2024.
Those 13 games were quite productive, though. Overshown recorded 90 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, five sacks, five quarterback hits, and even pulled off an interception. Those are the kind of numbers the Cowboys desperately need at the moment.
“It’s that time. It’s time to go,” Overshown said back in October. “… When I get between those lines, the sky is the limit for me. I’m not saying that to be cocky or anything, but I know what I bring to the field. There’s really no stress or pressure on me. I know what I’m capable of. Last year was still just me getting my feet wet so we still really haven’t seen what all I can do.”

Looking at the second part of Rapoport’s tweet — Revel is another piece for Dallas who can bring a new face to an area of weakness. Coverage has been a real issue for the Cowboys and Revel was on track to be a first-round pick last year before tearing his ACL. Getting him in the third round received praise due to the value received, injury or not.
Whether or not those two are active, we will have to wait and see. But a pair we can depend on seeing in Las Vegas are the additions made just before the trade deadline. Linebacker Logan Wilson and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams spent the week inside the organization.
So, as bad as the Cowboys’ defense has been, some fresh faces are on the way. All from different avenues — the trade market, off a previous injury, and even somebody set to make an NFL debut.
