When Jets receiver Garrett Wilson opened Twitter on Monday, he came across a tweet that claimed a trade to send Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to New York was “done.” Obviously excited about the acquisition, Wilson immediately sent out a pair of tweets from his account.

“I can finally enjoy my vacay now,” he wrote in the first.

“Y’all shud see this smile on me rn,” the second said.

Unfortunately, Wilson’s elation would be short-lived. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport later refuted that report, saying that “nothing happened” between Rodgers and the Jets. According to Rapoport, Rodgers has still yet to inform either team of where he wants to play in 2023.

Once Wilson saw that, he returned to Twitter a few hours later to admit he got his hopes up upon seeing the original tweet, saying he has no idea what the future holds for Rodgers.

“I ain’t gon fake it, I thought “Dov” bro tweet was the news break I was waiting for… smh,” he wrote. “Idk anything. Sorry ab that.”

Although an official trade hasn’t happened, reports from this past week have fueled speculation that Rodgers will end up on the Jets. New York recently met with Rodgers, and came away feeling “optimism about their chances of landing the four-time MVP.

If New York ultimately does get Aaron Rodgers, it would be a huge boost for Garrett Wilson in his second season. Even amidst inconsistent quarterback play in 2023, he was named Offensive Rookie of the Year after recording 83 catches for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns. For now, however, he’ll have to wait and continue to hope.

Aaron Rodgers says ‘it won’t be long’ before he makes decision

If Aaron Rodgers wants to be a New York Jet, he will be one.

Former NFL receiver Brandon Marshall got the most out of Rodgers during a brief interview on Saturday, but Rodgers isn’t budging on his ultimate decision.

“Well, I think it won’t be long. There’s a time limit for all this,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers and the Jets had an in-person meeting last week, and New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is is “excited and satisfied” about the potential of Rodgers coming aboard.

In 2022, Rodgers led the Packers to a 9-8 record and missed out on the postseason, and finished with 3,695 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on the season. In March of last year, he signed a three-year, $150 million deal, $60 million of which comes due this season. The Jets seem more than willing to pay him that money.
