The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season provided some close photo finishes. But which one was the best of the season? Kevin Harvick weighed in on Tuesday’s “Happy Hour” podcast.

Harvick could have gone with Ryan Blaney‘s epic drive from the back to the front to win the regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway. Instead, he went with the Round of 12 playoff race at Kansas Speedway, in which Chase Elliott went from fifth to first in the last two laps.

Bubba Wallace had the lead when the white flag came out. Denny Hamlin had the momentum down the backstretch, getting even with Wallace as they went into Turn 3. He slid Wallace up the racetrack and into the wall, which opened the door for Elliott, who was charging hard on the inside. Elliott didn’t lift, dooring Hamlin as they exited Turn 4 to take the lead and the checkered flag.

“That last lap for the 9 really started the lap before when all the chaos started with the 23 [Wallace] and the 20 [Christopher Bell] getting into each other off of Turn 4 and that momentum led back around to all of those moments,” Harvick said.

Harvick didn’t vote for Blaney’s win at Daytona, though he still liked the finish. Overall, he felt it was the best superspeedway race of the year in Cup.

“In my opinion, this was the best superspeedway race of the year,” Harvick said. “This, from the start to the finish, was the best complete superspeedway that they had, and we talked about this, obviously, Blaney comes on at the end right here to win this race from deep in the field.

“They raced like that all night, and that’s what we talked about all year. NASCAR’s got to figure out a way to get these superspeedway races so that they race from start to finish like they did at this Daytona race.”

Blaney’s drive was a nice ending to the regular season. It was a wild sequence from his perspective inside the car.

“What a wild last couple of laps” Blaney said after the race. “I was with Cole [Custer]. I kind of asked him on the restart, if you go to the top I’m going with you. We kind of just waited and waited and then the opportunity came, and he made a good move to get to the top, and we were able to really get good shoves. A couple good guys behind us and then it kind of cleared the way for us when [Justin Haley] and [Custer] got racing, and I was able to clear on the top and just barely hold out for the win.”
