Kevin Stefanski reveals Browns Week 14 starter between Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel
Shedeur Sanders has started the last two games under center for the Cleveland Browns. He will make a third consecutive start next Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced.
Stefanski made the reveal directly after Cleveland’s 25-8 Week 13 home defeat to the San Francisco 49ers. Sanders, the 2025 fifth-round pick, completed 16-of-25 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown. The lone score was a 34-yard connection with tight end Harold Fannin Jr. The Browns were otherwise held in check by San Francisco’s defense, totaling just 253 yards of offense.
“By wins and losses. Obviously, we lost so I didn’t play well. It definitely stings,” Sanders said of his performance Sunday. “On film, I’m gonna look back and wanna see but at least moving forward, I know what we can do differently going about the week being able to get fully prepared for every possibility.”
Cleveland will continue on with Sanders, who began the season third on the quarterback depth chart. Joe Flacco was QB1 until the Browns traded him to the Cincinnati Bengals. Dillon Gabriel, another rookie signal caller, started the next six games after Flacco was traded. He suffered a concussion in Week 11, paving the way for Sanders to start in Week 12.

Some good, some bad for Shedeur Sanders in first NFL action
In Week 12, a 24-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Sanders completed 11-of-20 passes for 209 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Sanders became the first Browns rookie quarterback to win his first start since 1995.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Saturday the Browns were open to giving Sanders an “extended look” for the remainder of the 2025 season. Cleveland got a chance to see Gabriel play over a period of time. They will now do the same with Sanders.
The Browns are tracking to own a top five pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Selecting a quarterback is still very much on the table. Indiana‘s Fernando Mendoza and Alabama‘s Ty Simpson are currently the consensus top quarterbacks.
