NFL free agency: Josh Myers signs one-year deal with New York Jets

Former Green Bay Packers center Josh Myers has agreed to terms with the New York Jets on a one-year, worth $3.5-million deal, per NFL insider Jeremy Fowler. Myers was a four-year starter for the Packers.
Myers was a second-round pick for the Packers in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He will reunite with his Buckeyes teammates, Justin Fields, in New York.
This past season, Myers played 1,006 snaps for the Packers, according to PFF. That ranked 17th among all qualifying centers in the NFL. He allowed just one sack over that span, five QB hits and 29 quarterback pressures.
Myers played through the injury bug this season, however. He injured his wrist against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8. He misssed a game, but managed to play through the ailment. Myers also had to deal with a pectoral injury during the back half of the year, which landed him on the injury report for several weeks.
The lone game he was out with injury was the only time he missed a game in the Packers’ last 55 games, which dates back to when the Packers had Aaron Rodgers under center. He will now follow a similar path that Rodgers had, moving from Green Bay to the New York Jets. While Myers won’t get to play next to Rodgers in New York, he will have instant chemistry with Justin Fields under center for the Jets.

New York Jets sign QB Justin Fields
Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields has signed with the New York Jets, according to Adam Schefter. This comes after he spent one season with the Steelers, largely as the backup.
In his report, Schefter revealed the contract details for Fields. He is getting a two-year, $40 million deal that includes $30 million guaranteed from New York. It was negotiated by David Mulugheta.
The Jets now become the third team that Justin Fields has played for in as many seasons and are the third team of his NFL career. He had initially been drafted by the Chicago Bears as a first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He’d spend three seasons there before being traded to Pittsburgh. There, he competed with veteran Russell Wilson for the starting job. Ultimately, the job went to Wilson, but Fields did step in for him when he battled injury.
In 10 games and six starts last season, Fields completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns to go with one interception. He also had 289 rushing yards and five more touchdowns on the ground.
