On Thursday, the Boston Celtics secured a Game 5 victory over the Miami Heat at home to make it a 3-2 series as the teams head back to South Beach for the sixth matchup. As the stadium emptied after Game 5, it was just the Inside the NBA crew left mixing it up during their postgame show. As is typical with that gang, towards the end of the show, the topic veered away from the basketball court and over to the baseball field, particularly Fenway Park, where Charles Barkley would one day like to see his dream fulfilled.

That dream?

“One of my goals, I would love to sit on top of the Monstahh,” Barkley said with a poor attempt at a Boston accent.

He’s talking about the Green Monster, the 37-foot left field wall that towers over the Fenway field like a monolith. “I wanna sit on the (monster) — I’ve never been to Fenway before.”

“You’ve never been to Fenway?” Ernie Johnson asked incredulously. Barkley responded: “But I want to sit on the — I’ll donate money to charity to sit on top of that monster.” He’s adamant about planting his rear end on the top of baseball’s most famous fence.

“As big a sports fan as you are…” Johnson continued, marveling at Barkley’s lack of trips to the storied Red Sox ball park. “Have you been to Wrigley?” he asked Chuck. “I have been to Wrigley quite a few times. I wanna go to Fenway!” Barkley snapped in response.

Kenny “The Jet” Smith butted in to comment that Barkley’s wish to sit on the top of the Green Monster is “just a viral moment waiting to happen, man. It’s just a viral moment waiting to happen.”

Shaquille O’Neal was busy laughing at Barkley’s suggestion for most of the conversation, but finally collected himself enough to ask: “What you gonna sit on Chuck?”

“Stop it, man. Stop, Shaq,” Johnson pleaded with the mammoth NBA star as he burst into another fit of laughter. As the cameras zoomed out and the show headed for break, O’Neal pitched a new segment: “Once a week, on today’s episode of What The Chuck Did You Say?”

Johnson signed off by noting that Saturday’s Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals “is a monstah” in his own bad impression of a Bostonian. And to cap off the hijinks, Barkley channeled his best Casey Affleck impression from Good Will Hunting to call the game a “wicked monstah.”
