Supercars champ Will Brown hoping to compete in NASCAR for two 2025 races with Richard Childress Racing
Newly crowned Supercars champion Will Brown has plans to return to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2025 with Richard Childress Racing. Brown replaced Shane van Gisbergen at Triple Eight Race Engineering and went on to win five races and the 2024 championship.
Will Brown came to the United States for one start in 2024. He raced at Sonoma and after having issues on the track, finished P31. It was not the ideal debut that SVG had at Chicago in 2023.
On the Supercars’ Drivers’ Only podcast, Brown talked about his NASCAR plans. Nothing is solidified, but if all goes according to plan, Brown will have two starts in 2025.
“Hopefully two NASCAR races,” Brown said, via SpeedCafe. “That’s the plan. I’ll say one, but hopefully, two if the car’s available.”
Will Brown is hoping to race at COTA and Chicago. Clearly, he has seen the success SVG has had in Chicago. He believes that his Supercars talents will translate well to the street course.
“I’m waiting to hear on that one [Chicago],” Brown continued. “That’d be awesome if I could try and do that, but I’d be happy to do Xfinity if I couldn’t get that. Obviously, Xfinity over there is pretty big.”
While the Xfinity Series isn’t the Cup Series, it is a big deal. The CW will air all of the Xfinity Series season in 2025 and if this year’s ratings were any indication, it should do well with the series on their airwaves.

Could Will Brown find success in NASCAR?
Will Brown is young enough to make NASCAR work
Since Shane van Gisbergen showed how similar the Supercars and NASCAR Cup cars are, it’s been a quest for the next big thing out of that series. SVG showed what is possible, but is he the only one who can do what he did?
Of course, we see Scott McLaughlin in IndyCar, but we don’t see a huge influx of Supercars drivers trying out that series. Will Brown, Brodie Kostecki, and Cam Waters seem to be the most ready to make the transition right now.
Brown didn’t get to show his true talents at Sonoma. His car started the weekend with electrical issues and there was no speed in his No. 33 Chevy. Then again, RCR was down for most of the year.
Will Brown just won his first Supercars championship. At 26 years old, he is young enough to make a transition to NASCAR and develop his talents on ovals. Road course and street course racing is only going to become more important, and these racers are ready for it.
