Tom Brady reacts to Dak Prescott's new contract ahead of Browns vs. Cowboys
Tom Brady wants to see Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott prove he is worth the historic contract he signed Sunday. To do that, he believes the Prescott has to find success in the playoffs.
The quarterback has spent his entire nine-year career in Dallas but has just a 2-5 postseason record during that time. He is coming off of his most successful statistical season with 4,516 yards passing and a career-high 36 touchdowns to nine interceptions.
That earned him the four-year extension worth $240 million that made him the highest-paid player in NFL history. That puts the pressure on him to perform this year, as Brady challenged him to during Sunday’s broadcast of the Cowboys vs. Browns on FOX.
“Dak signed the largest contract in the history of the NFL,” he said. “Now, he’s gotta go out there and earn it. 2023 was his best season. He’s coming off of that. But going forward, it’s gonna be what happens in the postseason is how he’s remembered.”

Prescott has the fourth-most wins of any quarterback in franchise history but has never led the Cowboys past the divisional round of the playoffs. That will certainly have to change for him to pay off the massive salary he now has.

Brady, of course, knows a thing or two about postseason success. He has the most Super Bowls of any player in NFL history with seven rings and a .729 winning percentage in the playoffs.
Prescott is so far off to a solid start on Sunday having completed 11-of-16 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. He connected with Brandin Cooks on a 21-yard score during the Cowboys’ second drive of the game to put them up 7-0 early.
Dallas currently leads Cleveland by a score of 14-3 with four minutes remaining in the first half. If Prescott can keep it up, he’s looking at leading his team to a season-opening win on the road.
