Tricon Garage announces IMSA star Jack Hawksworth will drive No. 1 truck at COTA
Ahead of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at COTA, Tricon Garage has announced they have a ringer for the No. 1 truck. Jack Hawksworth, 2023 IMSA GTD Pro champion and former IndyCar driver, will be behind the wheel.
This won’t be the first time Hawksworth has raced in NASCAR. The sports car star has one start in the Xfinity Series for Joe Gibbs Racing at Mid-Ohio. He qualified P2 and finished P15 in that effort.
Many times we see the road course ringers in the Cup Series. Tricon Garage decided to bring the concept to their multi-team organization. Tricon puts out a handful of truck each week and expects them to perform at a high level.
How do you think Hawksworth will perform at COTA?
Having drivers from other disciplines in NASCAR is fun and exciting. Hawksworth is going to make those tailgaters earn it at COTA. The race isn’t until March 23, but the IMSA champ is going to garner a lot of attention in the Truck Series.
Earlier this year, Brad Keselowski mentioned that he and RFK Racing are actually looking at IMSA as a future proving ground for NASCAR drivers. Could Hawksworth be planning a move to NASCAR full-time, or is this just a one-off race for fun?
Tricon Garage giving Hawksworth a great opportunity
A driver like Jack Hawksworth in equipment like Tricon has, that’s a recipe for success. This No. 1 truck should be a factor in qualifying and will be a threat to finish top-10. The British wheelman is looking forward to his start at COTA.

When he was in IndyCar, Hawksworth’s lone podium finish came in the state of Texas at the Houston Grand Prix. He will try to make another podium in the Lone Star State.
“I’m super stoked to be joining Tricon Garage and piloting the No. 1 Mobil 1 Toyota Tundra at COTA,” the driver said in a press release. “The truck looks awesome. I’m looking forward to stepping back into the NASCAR world, working with the team leading up to the race weekend and then going out there and getting after it.
“COTA is a fun, technical track and one that should be challenging to tame a stock car at. A big thank you to everyone at TRD, Lexus, Mobil 1 and Tricon for making this possible. I can’t wait to get started!”
Tricon Garage puts a lot of fun names in that No. 1 truck. Already we have seen Toni Breidinger and Christopher Bell in the truck. Now, we’ll see what an IMSA champ can do.
