4-star RB Carsyn Baker decommits from Florida
Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star running back Carsyn Baker has decommitted from Florida, according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.
He’s backed off his pledge to the SEC program with National Signing Day less than 48 hours away. Baker was committed to the Gators since June 13, when he chose them over Florida State, among others.
Baker is the No. 198 overall prospect and No. 16 RB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 24 recruit in Georgia.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound burner instantly becomes the top RB on the board this cycle with NSD around the corner. Baker’s recruitment was jam-packed with perennial programs this summer. Ohio State, Clemson, FSU, South Carolina and more were pushing to land his pledge, but the staff in Gainesville helped put UF over the top.
“Coach Napier is a great coach and he is building something at Florida,” Baker told Rivals’ Chad Simmons this summer. “Florida will be contending for national championships and will be hard to stop in the coming years. The roster they have this season and the recruiting class coming has Florida on the right track.”

Florida fired Billy Napier midseason and announced the hiring of Tulane’s Jon Sumrall on Sunday. Baker is the first casualty on the recruiting front for Sumrall and the Gators, who still have a top-15 class. Baker was the lone running back in Florida’s 2026 class.
South Carolina has become a top contender in Baker’s recruitment this fall, while North Carolina and Kentucky have also remained in the mix. Baker just took an official visit to Columbia to see the Gamecocks. Rivals’ Greg Smith provided an update on Baker’s recruitment earlier on Monday.
An updated look at Florida’s 2026 recruiting class can be seen here. The Gators are still on pace to ink an impressive class as the Sumrall era gets underway in Gainesville.
