Ammon Alexander commits to Stanford, breaks down decision
Queen Creek (Ariz.) Benjamin Franklin offensive lineman Ammon Alexander announced his commitment to Stanford.
Alexander narrowed his choices to also include BYU and UCLA. His most recent visit was to Stanford and the Cardinal were able to seal the deal.
“I’m very excited about my decision,” Alexander said. “There’s a lot of reasons why I committed there but education was a big factor for sure.
“For me, first and foremost, it was education, education, education. I am a scholar-athlete. Stanford understands this and will allow me to put books in front of football.”
Alexander raved about his recent visit and it sounded like the Cardinal were going to be tough to beat.
“I had a great visit to Stanford,” Alexander said. “I really liked the campus and met a lot of great people. The engineering program is incredible and you’re surrounded by so many other quality student athletes.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to attend Stanford and play for such an incredible football program. It’s really the best of both worlds there.”

Alexander said he was able to meet general manager Andrew Luck on his visit and loves the direction the program is going.
“Andrew Luck was amazing,” Alexander said. “I enjoyed my time with him and hearing his message about why Stanford is so special.
“He talked about Stanford being the best place to get both a great education and play big time football. Now I’ll have that opportunity and I’m very excited about it.”
Alexander is a really nice late pickup for Stanford. They had to beat out UCLA, who looked like the team to beat following his official visit and BYU, where he has strong family ties.
He’s a versatile lineman who can play just about anywhere along the offensive line and brings the kind of positional versatility you love to have in the trenches.
