2024 CB Billy Eastep considering Power Five, Ivy League options

Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy College Preparatory cornerback Billy Eastep had to miss his junior season after receiving labrum surgery. Now getting healthy and heading into his final year of high school football, he is ready to make an impact on the field.

Eastep, who may move to safety or outside linebacker, currently holds offers from Idaho State and Washington State. He is also interested in multiple Ivy League schools, including Brown, Harvard, Princeton and Yale.

“I think so, for sure,” Eastep told On3 on if he believes he will be offered by those Ivy League programs.

Right now, Eastep is excited to get back on the field. He is currently open to other schools that enter his recruitment in the future.

Regarding Washington State, he received an offer from the Cougars after his sophomore year. He hears from their coaches every two weeks.

“I’ve been watching their games and I like how they run their defense,” said Eastep, who is hoping to visit Pullman. “It seems like a great atmosphere to be at.”

Eastep also likes what he has seen from Idaho State. The Bengals have a new head coach after Charlie Ragle left for Arizona State.

“They’re rebuilding right now,” Eastep said. “They didn’t have the best season last year from what I was looking at, but I think they’re definitely on an upward swing.”

Eastep is very interested in multiple Ivy League programs

Academics are a big factor in Eastep’s decision. A school’s connection with his family and how it will set him up in football and life after college matter as well.

Of the aforementioned Ivy League schools, Eastep is talking mostly with Princeton and Yale.

“I like the coaches a lot,” Eastep said. “I think I connect well with them. They called recently just checking up on me and I think that’s a big thing for me, just keeping in touch.”

The 6-foot-0, 185-pound defensive back last visited Yale over the summer. He speaks with multiple staffers from both schools.

“I like Yale school-wise,” Eastep said. “Obviously, it’s one of the best schools in the nation and a great campus, but football-wise, it’s a really intense program up there. I like that everything’s really structured. When I went, that’s what I enjoyed most.

“Princeton, it’s pretty similar. Princeton’s a lot newer. They just revamped their facility and got a new scoreboard. They’re putting a lot into football, which is really cool. Their training regimen, they were taking me through that and it’s really advanced. I think I’d fit in well there.”
