2025 QB Chris Denson flips commitment from to Coastal Carolina to Clemson

Plant City (Fla.) three-star quarterback Chris Denson has flipped his commitment from Coastal Carolina to Clemson, joining the Tigers’ top-20 class in 2025.

Denson had been committed to the Chanticleers since April, but Dabo Swinney and Co. have turned up the heat on him in recent weeks as they look to add a quarterback to their class.

They now have one.

“I just feel like my development will be through the roof,” he told On3 of why he chose Clemson. “Playing under one of the best coaches in the country and knowing that I haven’t reached my potential yet, I know that they will take me to that level.”

Denson loves the opportunity to compete at the highest levels and believes he will get that in Death Valley. He hasn’t been to visit yet, but plans to before the Early Signing Period. Even so, what they’ve told him makes him excited about his future there.

“What makes Clemson special is just the level of ball that they are playing at,” he added. “And the way they compete. I’m a huge competitor, so that’s the type of place and people I want to surround myself around.”

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder is the No. 854 overall prospect and No. 50 QB in the cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3, however, is much higher on him than other services. In the recently released 2025 rankings update, he was tabbed as the nation’s No. 27 QB and No. 44 player in the Sunshine State.
