Michigan Football: Wolverines chasing another top-10 recruiting class

Michigan has proven a lot of naysayers wrong on the field thus far, jumping out to a 8-2 start and a No. 18 ranking in the latest College Football Playoff Top 25. What was looked at by many as a rebuilding year has been anything but for Sherrone Moore and Co., who are in position to improve on last year’s 8-5 mark.

The Wolverines have also maintained the momentum on the recruiting trail they closed out the 2025 cycle with. After signing a pair of five-stars in last year’s cycle, they have two committed again. Running back Savion Hiter and EDGE Carter Meadows are ranked by Rivals as the No. 1 players at their respective positions.

And in total, the Wolverines have 25 commitments and 15 blue-chip pledges in total. They’ve loaded up at wide receiver and tight end (five total commits), as well as on the defensive line (six). But Rivals’ Greg Smith reports they’re not done just yet.

“It’s a major storyline down the stretch run to National Signing Day that Michigan is being very aggressive trying to flip players,” Smith wrote earlier this month. “Those efforts seem to be focused on two positions: linebacker and defensive back.”

Since that, Michigan has landed a trio of commitments, including linebackers Kaden Catchings and Aden Reeder, flipping them away from USF and Wisconsin, respectively. Along with that duo, they also grabbed high-upside offensive tackle Tommy Fraumann last week as well. They still have eyes on adding at least one more cornerback in the class and will be looking to do so between now and Signing Day on December 3.

Moore and Co. hold the nation’s No. 11 class in the Rivals Industry Rankings, but they’re within striking distance of a few teams in front of them.
