New Jersey High School Football: St. Joseph Regional beats No. 10 Don Bosco Prep
When No. 10 nationally ranked Don Bosco Prep and St. Joseph Regional at MetLife Stadium for the New Jersey high school football NJSIAA Non-Public A state championship on Friday night, the consensus was that it seemed inevitable that the Ironmen were going to win their first state title since 2021.
Instead, it would be the Green Knights celebrating winning their first state championship since 2018 in a dominating defensive effort.
St. Joseph Regional stifled Don Bosco Prep’s offense and narrowly pulled off a 24-21 victory for the Non-Public A state championship.
For the Green Knights, they claimed their first state crown since 2018 when they defeated Bergen Catholic for the New Jersey high school football NJSIAA Non-Public Group IV sectional title in a 13-0 victory. It’s the 20th state championship in St. Joseph Regional’s program history.
Don Bosco Prep opened up the scoring early in the contest when quarterback Carson Schoen connected with Isaiah Alvarez on a 50-yard touchdown connection. St. Joseph Regional would answer back on a touchdown pass by Lamar Best to tie things up at 7-all later in the quarter.
