Miami’s recent recruiting heater continued on Tuesday, with the Hurricanes flipping high three-star defensive lineman Isaac Chukwurah off his commitment to Penn State.

The Bear (Del.) Caravel Academy star had been pledged to the Nittany Lions since April, but opted to look around at other schools when head coach James Franklin was fired. The ‘Canes quickly jumped into the mix along with NC State, and they ultimately got him to campus for an official visit over the weekend.

He pulled the trigger on the flip a few days later, giving Miami its fifth in the past 2 1/2 weeks.

After flipping four-star defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil from ACC rival Clemson and poaching four-star wideout Milan Parris from Iowa State at the end of October, they struck again on Sunday night by landing four-star safety James Dunnigan Jr., a one-time Kansas commit.

And a day later, former LSU pledge and four-star edge rusher DeAnthony Lafayette joined the class. Along with Stancil and Lafayette, Chukwurah adds to a strong defensive line group headed to Coral Gables. Four-star Anthony Kennedy and three-stars Tyson Bacon and Frederic Sainteus are also in the class.

The spate of recent flips pushes the Hurricanes up to 28 total commitments in their high school class, which is headlined by five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell. And they very well might have a few more in their pocket before National Signing Day on December 3.

Miami is considered the current favorite for three-star Pittsburgh defensive line commit Logan Nagle and four-star Clemson safety decommit Blake Stewart. They’re also very much in the mix for four-star Colorado tight end commit Gavin Mueller, and continue to make a run at Wisconsin running back commit Amari Latimer.
