Kamrah Banks

Top 2026 recruit Kamrah Banks has committed to UCF, she told Rivals. Banks, a 5-9 guard from Indianapolis (IN), chose UCF over West Virginia and St. John’s

“It just felt like a home away from home,” Banks told Rivals. “The vibes were there. I just felt like I had known them for a really long time, even though some of the people on the staff were fairly new. I just feel like they understood my goals and what I want to accomplish while in college. I just feel like that was the right place for me to go. The playing style and all that fit as well.”

Her relationships with the coaching staff were a key factor in Banks’ commitment.

“There’s four women on staff and then three male assistants,” Banks said. “I feel like that’s needed, especially for me. I’ve never been coached by a woman, so, in college, that’s something that I wanted, was to play for a woman. She also played in the WNBA and has players that played in the WNBA. I feel like she could help me reach my goals. They care about me as more than just a basketball player. Most of the conversations we had weren’t even about basketball. It was just more so me, about me as a person, so I feel like that was really important, and that stood out to me.”

Banks committed to UCF on her official visit there last week and was able to see how much she’d enjoy the campus, the facilities and the resources available to athletes. Beyond that, the coaches discussed how she’d fit into their system.

“They play freshmen,” Banks said. “It’s not like I would have to wait until my junior or senior year to even be able to see the floor and play. If I come in and do what I need to do, then I’ll have the opportunity to play, which is all in my hands. As far as playing style, they play fast, they use ball screens, and they want to score within the first seven or eight seconds of the shot clock, which kind of translates to my game as well.”

Banks sees her strengths fitting into UCF’s style of play and prides herself on her offensive versatility.

“Definitely being able to get downhill and creating for my teammates, as well as for myself,” Banks said of her strengths as a player. “Coming off of ball screens, I feel like I make the right decisions, and do a good job of reading the defense and making the right play when needed.”

While her arrival on campus is still a year away, there’s plenty that Banks is looking forward to experiencing.

“Being able to play for the coaches and being a part of what they’re trying to build,” Banks said. “I can’t wait to be a part of it. They’re trying to win and that’s my goal too, so I’m excited to be a part of it all.”
