Louisiana Tech to Face Coastal Carolina in First-Ever Meeting at the Independence Bowl
Louisiana Tech (7–5) has officially learned that it will face Coastal Carolina (6–6) in the 49th Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl on December 30.
The matchup marks Louisiana Tech’s seventh appearance in the Independence Bowl. The Bulldogs hold a 3-2-1 record in their previous six trips, and this year’s bid will be the first time in program history that they play in the bowl in consecutive seasons. Sonny Cumbie’s team is looking to bounce back after last year’s 27–6 loss to Army in Shreveport.
Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. on ESPN.
The Independence Bowl matchup will be the first-ever meeting between Louisiana Tech and Coastal Carolina on the football field.
Louisiana Tech closed the 2025 campaign with a 7–5 record after opening the year 4–1, finishing in a three-way tie for fourth place in Conference USA.
Coastal Carolina wrapped up its regular season at 6–6, starting 6–3 through its first nine contests before slipping into a four-way tie for fourth in the Sun Belt.
The Chanticleers will be led by interim head coach Jeremiah Johnson — Louisiana Tech’s former defensive coordinator — after Tim Beck was relieved of his duties following the regular-season finale.
