We talked about Bob Chesney’s early impact on UCLA NIL fundraising, including his current “road show” where he’s having dinners and get-togethers with small groups of donors to try to raise funds and gather support. Chesney has been willing to do whatever the program needs, according to Ken. Ken described the state of UCLA football NIL as very healthy.

We also talked about the importance of building front office support in both of the major sports, with UCLA having built up a football front office over the last year to help with transfer portal recruiting, and UCLA basketball also in the process of doing the same.

With both sports, we discussed the level of inflation in the transfer portal windows, and what he’s anticipating in basketball in particular when the portal opens in April.

Finally, we touched on the women’s basketball and baseball programs, both of which are in the midst of elite seasons, and how Champion of Westwood has supported both.
