Commitment analysis: 2026 3-star DE Max Meier

Back in April, Stanford landed a commitment from 2026 3-star defensive end Max Meier out of Loyola High School in Los Angeles, California. Meier is a high 3-star recruit with a 5.7 Rivals rating. Meier chose Stanford over a bunch of quality programs, making it a nice recruiting victory for the Cardinal. Below are some thoughts on what he’ll bring to Stanford’s defense.
Via Adam Gorney: Stanford lands pledge from defensive end Max Meier
Listed at 6’5”, 245 pounds, Max Meier has tremendous physical gifts. Great size and burst off the line of scrimmage. He has a variety of moves to get around and through offensive lineman to make the tackle as well as being able to beat guys off the edge. He’s difficult to contain because he can beat you in a variety of ways.
On top of having great moves, Meier has a fantastic motor. He plays extremely hard and gets after it. He has all the pieces to be an effective and impactful defensive end at the next level.
Not only does he have the physical gifts, but Meier also has the IQ as well. He has a great feel for the game and makes the right reads. Given he had a host of Ivy League offers to go along with his stellar offers list, it’s no surprise he’d be a smart player. Hopefully for Stanford, he’ll be able to be an early enrollee just like freshman defensive end Adam Shovlin was this past spring.
Regardless of when he’ll get on campus, Max Meier is an exciting talent for Stanford’s defense to add to the fold. It’ll be fun to see what he brings to the program and how defensive line coach Ross Kolodziej puts his talents to use.
