Sunday is decision day for QB Matt Ponatoski

Will Kentucky’s months-long pursuit of four-star Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller quarterback Matt Ponatoski end in one of the program’s biggest commitments in years?
Sunday should be the day we find out.
Last week Steve Wiltfong and Adam Gorney reported that Ponatoski would be making his commitment public on Sunday. Both analysts also expressed their feeling that Kentucky had the best shot.
Ponatoski has been focused on Kentucky, Alabama, Oregon, and Arkansas. As a talented baseball player and prospect, both sports have gotten a lot of consideration as he thinks about his future. With Alabama and Oregon both landing top quarterback commitments, Kentucky’s position has seemed to improve with the Ohio signal-caller.
After a very slow start to the Class of 2026 the Wildcats have been red hot lately, landing commitments from a number of top targets at various position groups since the start of June. The recruiting momentum continued into July, with the Cats flipping wide receiver Denairius Gray from Auburn.
Ponatoski is one of the most talented high school quarterback prospects to consider Kentucky in a number of years and put up video game-like numbers at Archbishop Moeller last year.
He visited Kentucky in the spring and again for an official visit recently.
Ponatoski was Ohio’s Gatorade Player of the Year in both football and baseball.
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine is heavily in favor of Kentucky heading into Ponatoski’s decision.
