Arkansas picks up commitment from Marshall transfer, per reports

Per Cape Code League’s Falmouth Commodores play-by-play announcer Andrew Della Piana, Marshall transfer IF/CF Maika Niu has committed to Arkansas. It was also confirmed by a scouting page on X that is associated with Falmouth.
Niu, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound junior hailing from Mechanicsburg, Pa., played last season with the The Herd following a two-year stint at New Orleans. In his lone season at Marshall, Niu started 54 games and slashed .276/.343/.557 in 228 at-bats with 63 hits, 12 doubles, five triples, 14 home runs and 48 RBI.
He is eligible for the 2025 MLB Draft next weekend.
During his previous career at New Orleans, Niu compiled a .290/.359/.528 slash line in 193 at-bats with 56 hits, eight doubles, four triples, 10 home runs and 40 RBI in 60 games.
Niu is the seventh addition for the Hogs out of the transfer portal this cycle.
