A day removed from securing their 25th commitment for the 2026 cycle, the Arkansas Razorbacks earned their second pledge for 2027 in Lakeland (Fla.) quarterback Joaquin Kavouklis, as reported on Thursday by National Recruiting Analyst John Garcia Jr.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound signal caller told Garcia on June 18 that he had narrowed down his decision to Arkansas, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech, then Garcia added more intel on Monday that the Hogs emerged as the favorite.

Arkansas was Kavouklis’ first Power Four offer in January of 2024 and have “remained in the mix for a year as a dozen other tenders have come in,” Garcia added.

Kavouklis also mentioned to Garcia that his strong relationship with offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, competing in the SEC and development in Petrino’s system played key roles in his decision.

“Coach (Bobby) Petrino and coach (Miles) Fishback offer great long term development knowing who Coach Petrino has produced! Playing in the SEC against the nation’s best has always been a dream of mine,” Kavouklis said.

Kavouklis took an unofficial visit to Arkansas on April 10.

Others that have offered Kavouklis include East Carolina, Florida International, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Sacramento State, South Florida, Syracuse, Toledo, UAB, UCF, UNLV and West Virginia.

Kavouklis thrived as a sophomore at Class 2A Tarpon Springs, completing 165 of 270 for 2,404 yards with 21 touchdowns, but will be playing his final two seasons at 5A powerhouse Lakeland between Tampa and Orlando.

Along with Kavouklis, the Razorbacks also have in-state offensive lineman Bradley Sturdivant from Sheridan on board for the 2027 cycle, who committed on January 26.
