Georgia Tech has been without a true safety commit to this point in the 2026 recruiting cycle, but not anymore.

The Jackets secured a big flip on Monday night, just two days before the early signing period begins, as 2026 safety Kealan Jones switched his commitment from Georgia to Georgia Tech. Jones announced the decision via social media.

Jones, a standout from Sprayberry High (Ga.), has been committed to the Bulldogs since April when he chose them over more than 10 other Power 4 offers, including Georgia Tech and several other ACC and SEC programs.

But the Jackets’ staff, specifically defensive backs coach Cory Peoples, continued to recruit Jones hard and was able to change his mind over the last few weeks which included Jones visiting for Georgia Tech’s matchup vs. Pitt on Nov. 22 and then again this past Friday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the rivalry between the Jackets and Bulldogs.

Jones is the second addition to Georgia Tech’s 2026 class on Monday as linebacker Braylon Outlaw committed to the Jackets earlier in the day. The Jackets now have 20 commits in this class with several more spots expected to be filled in the next few days.

Check back later for more on Jones’ flip to Georgia Tech.
