Jackets flip safety Chris Hewitt Jr. from Rutgers on Signing Day
Georgia Tech remained busy this week, adding another piece to its 2026 class with the flip of safety Chris Hewitt Jr. on Signing Day Wednesday.
Hewitt committed to Rutgers back in June following his official visit, but the Jackets’ staff has been working behind the scenes to change his mind and sealed the deal this week to give Tech its second safety in the class. The Calvert Hall College High (Md.) standout had close to 30 total offers, including ones from Power 4 schools like Maryland, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Pitt, Tennessee, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Minnesota, Syracuse, West Virginia, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Kansas, Boston College, Cincinnati and Nebraska.
Hewitt is the second safety the Jackets’ staff has flipped to the 2026 class this week after Kealan Jones made the switch on his commitment from Georgia to Georgia Tech on Monday night.
