Georgia Tech and new head coach James Ramsey have been busy in the transfer portal in the last few weeks, and the Jackets got another big addition on Thursday with the commitment of former Tennessee left-handed pitcher Dylan Loy.

Loy announced the news via his social media as he will transfer to Georgia Tech following two productive seasons in Knoxville, including winning a national championship with the Vols his freshman season in 2024. He pitched in two of Tennessee’s College World Series finals games during that championship run two seasons ago.

In two years at Tennessee, Loy pitched in 54 total games mostly out of the bullpen although he did make six starts. Overall, he had a record of 6-0 with an ERA of 3.22 and two saves in 64 and 1/3 innings of work. He struck out 73 batters in those two seasons with only 21 walks and opposing hitters batted just .187 against him. He was named as a Second-Team Freshman All-American by the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) in 2024.

This past season in 2025, Loy pitched in 33 games and had a record of 4-0 with an ERA of 3.97 with two saves in 34 innings of work before entering the transfer portal following the end of Tennessee’s season in June.

Loy chose Tennessee over offers from several other top programs coming out of high school as he was ranked as a top 500 player in the country by Perfect Game in the Class of 2023 as well as the No. 18 overall player in the state of Tennessee out of Pigeon Forge High School.

Loy is the third pitcher Georgia Tech has added via the transfer portal in the last few weeks along with former Georgia pitcher Cade Brown and former Rutgers pitcher Justin Shadek. The Jackets have also added infielders Jarren Avincula (Cal) and Ryan Zuckerman (Pitt) via the portal.
