Outside of the Wolverines’ pursuit of a fifth-straight win over the Buckeyes and a potential College Football Playoff bid with a win over the top-ranked team in the country, The Game will be up to its usual late-November antics and then some if the weather patterns continue to hold into Saturday.
According to AccuWeather, weather conditions at kickoff are expected to be cold and chilly, with a high of 31 degrees, and a wind chill that makes temperatures feel like 27 degrees throughout the game.
While the temperatures won’t have much of an impact, the potential of now and wind gusts certainly will, as Washtenaw County will be under a winter storm warning by the National Weather Service from 3 p.m. EST on Saturday, November 28, to 10 a.m. EST on Sunday, November 29.
While timing and snow total varies, most are in agreement that snow could potentially impact Saturday’s game, if at all, in the second half and perhaps not at all, as the Ann Arbor area is expecting anywhere between 1 and 3 inches throughout the day, while the National Weather Service says that some areas could see as many as 5 to 8 inches throughout the course of the weekend storm.
Some models predict snowfall could start at 1 p.m., while others suggest it could start to snow closer to 3 p.m. EST, which would put the timing right at the end of the game. The heaviest snowfall is expected around 6 p.m. EST, which could make travel home after the game difficult.
On top of the snow, wind is expected throughout the course of Saturday afternoon, which could make life difficult for both teams on offense and on special teams, with wind expected around 10-15 mph but could see gusts as high as 25 mph during the game.
The latest edition of The Game will kick off at 12 p.m. EST on Fox.
