Michigan Women's Basketball: A week in review (Dec. 1 - Dec. 7)

Both of Michigan’s basketball programs are in a healthy place to start the season, as both programs are on the same trajectory with big wins in recent games. The women’s program opened up Big Ten play this week and cruised to an easy win.

Here’s a look at how the Wolverines did this week.

December 3

Highlights:

Who: Central Michigan

Where: Ann Arbor, MI

Score: Michigan wins 82-40

Leading Scorer: Olivia Olson (21)

Of Note: Michigan took the lead from the start and never looked back while overcoming a slow second quarter. Central Michigan was able to shrink its deficit to 32-21 at halftime, but U-M flipped the switch in the third quarter, scoring 50 points in the second half to cruise to another blowout victory.

December 7

Highlights:

Who: Purdue

Where: Ann Arbor, MI

Score: Michigan wins 104-56

Leading Scorer: Olivia Olson (26)

Of Note: U-M started Big Ten play with an exclamation mark on Sunday as the Wolverines scored the second-most points on a Big Ten program in school history with a rout over Purdue. Olivia Olson continued her strong week, leading the Wolverines in scoring once again with 26 points. 12 players scored for the Wolverines with 5 of them scoring double-digit points.

The Wolverines will have one game next week, as non-conference play continues with Akron visiting Ann Arbor on Sunday, December 13. The game will be streamed live on B1G+ with tipoff set for 12:00 p.m. EST.
