Border War postgame press conference videos
Mizzou coach Dennis Gates and forward Mark Mitchell met with media after the Tigers lost to Kansas in the Border War.
Kansas coach Bill Self addressed the media as well.
Here are the full videos of each.
Dennis Gates & Mark Mitchell
“The opportunity to play this series is a tremendous opportunity for both programs,” Gates said. “… No matter where it’s at, it brings an outstanding amount of fandom, support from all over, no matter what years you’ve had. … Ultimately, it gives a tough opportunity to play a great game.”
“I think we just need to adjust to the other team’s adjustments coming out of halftime,” Mitchell said. “Teams make adjustments, teams find things that are working for them. And also, we got to close out halves better.”
“I think at the end of the day, battle fouls and non-battle fouls are different,” Gates said. “You can say Mark Mitchell ended up with double-digit free throws, in actuality, he didn’t. The question is, did he end up with those fouls when the battles were taking place. He did not.”
“Just continue to learn and grow so we can continue to do better,” Mitchell said. “… It’s little things.”
Bill Self
“I thought the crowd showed up,” Self said. “I was very pleasantly surprised with how many students showed up. … It wasn’t UConn in Allen Fieldhouse, but I thought it was good.”
“I initially wanted to play the game,” Self said. “Last year at this time driving back from Columbia, I’d (be happy) with it over right then. But obviously I feel better this year. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future with scheduling.”
