How Mizzou, Mississippi State starters ranked as recruits

Missouri called upon multiple freshman and second-year players to start on offense against Texas A&M in Week 11.

Tigers freshman Matt Zollers took over starting quarterback duties for an injured Beau Pribula, who got upgraded to doubtful Wednesday. After weeks of production, freshman Donovan Olugbode was announced a starting wide receiver over Marquis Johnson, and redshirt freshman Jude James stepped in for Brett Norfleet, who is still questionable with a shoulder injury.

Mississippi State might be in a similar spot as its opponent Saturday, given injury worries around quarterback Blake Shapen. If the second-year Bulldog can’t go, coach Jeff Lebby will turn to freshman KaMario Taylor.

A three-time transfer, Catalon joined Missouri from UNLV as the 108th-ranked player in the portal. After one season with Texas A&M, Norwood transferred to Missouri ahead of the 2022 campaign, but he’s not listed with any transfer portal information in the On3 | Rivals database.

Pride, another St. Louis-area product to return home, ranked a four-star and 57th nationally out of the portal from Clemson. A fellow junior-college product like Newson, Hall came from Washington State as a three-star.
