Thursday’s SEC Availability Report saw an unexpected and unfortunate development for Oklahoma.

OU cornerback Gentry Williams is now listed as doubtful to play on Saturday against Alabama. Williams was not listed on Wednesday’s report, indicating he would be available against the Crimson Tide. He also spoke to the media on Monday.

Williams has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury.

The only other change from Wednesday’s report is offensive tackle Derek Simmons, who went from probable to unlisted. That indicates he will be available against Alabama.

Defensive end R Mason Thomas and defensive tackle Jayden Jackson remain questionable. Linebacker Kobie McKinzie and wide receiver Keontez Lewis remain probable.

According to the SEC Availability Report, players listed as questionable as “uncertain to play due to injury or condition.” Players listed as doubtful are “unlikely to play due to significant concerns.” Players who are probable are “likely to play, barring any setbacks.”

Williams’ absence would leave the Sooners’ cornerback room again shorthanded ahead of a pivotal matchup with Alabama. The Crimson Tide rank 14th nationally in passing offense and 16th in passes of 20-plus yards. Without Williams, the Sooners will likely again lean on Eli Bowen and Courtland Guillory, with Jacobe Johnson and Devon Jordan playing reserve snaps.

Additional availability reports will be released Friday and 90 minutes before kickoff. The Sooners and Alabama kickoff at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday (ABC).
