Final Availability Report: R Mason Thomas, Gentry Williams out vs. Alabama
Oklahoma will be without a couple of key defenders today against Alabama.
OU star defensive end R Mason Thomas and cornerback Gentry Williams have been ruled out against the Crimson Tide (2:30 p.m. CT), according to the final SEC Availability Report.
This will mark Williams’ third-consecutive absence since suffering a shoulder injury against South Carolina. Williams was not listed on Wednesday’s report and spoke to the media on Monday, but suffered another injury during Thursday’s practice.
Thomas suffered a groin injury early in the Tennessee game and didn’t return. He was listed as questionable Wednesday and Thursday before being downgraded to doubtful on Thursday. Thomas has 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks this season.
Defensive tackle Jayden Jackson is listed as a game-time decision. He’s been listed as questionable throughout the week.
Without Thomas, the Sooners will likely give additional snaps to Taylor Wein, Adepoju Adebawore and Danny Okoye. If Jackson can’t go, the Sooners will lean more on David Stone and Gracen Halton.
Cornerbacks Courtland Guillory and Eli Bowen have started each of the last two games in Williams’ absence.
