Following a 29-7 nationally televised blowout win over BYU, the Texas Tech Red Raiders have risen to No. 6 in the second edition of the College Football Playoff rankings.

The ranking is the highest ever for Texas Tech in the CFP era.

Per the bracket, if the season ended today, Texas Tech would host No. 15/11 seed Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

At 9-1 (6-1) with two regular season games remaining, Texas Tech controls its own destiny in terms of making the Big 12 Championship Game and the College Football Playoff.

Up next for the Red Raiders is Senior Day, a 2:30 p.m. CT matchup on Saturday vs the 4-5 (1-5) UCF Knights from Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. Texas Tech enters the game as 24 point favorites. The game will be shown live on FOX.
