Michigan State secures commitment from coveted 2026 three-star EDGE Chris Addison

The Fourth of July holiday weekend is starting off with fireworks for the Michigan State football program. MSU received a commitment from yet another priority target in the 2026 class, as three-star EDGE Chris Addison pledged to the Spartans late Thursday night.
He chose the Spartans over fellow finalists Arizona State, Florida State, Tulane and UCLA.
Addison – out of Franklin Parish High School in Winnsboro, Louisiana – will most likely play the rush end position for head coach Jonathan Smith, defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Joe Rossi, co-special teams coordinator/rush ends coach Chad Wilt and the rest of the Spartans, although he has some positional flexibility to play elsewhere, if needed.
He took his official visit to East Lansing during the weekend of June 13-15. Addison also took official visits with the Sun Devils, Bruins, and Seminoles. After taking some time to reflect, Addison chose the Spartans.
While Michigan State was in a good spot in Addison’s recruitment following his official visit, he took the trip to Florida State the following weekend and UCLA was thought to be heavily in the mix as well, and there was some mystery and intrigue regarding which way Addison was leaning. On Thursday, On3/Rivals college football expert Steve Wiltfong reported that the Spartans were trending for Addison – and that prediction came to fruition just a few hours later.
The 6-foot-3, 255-pound Addison ranks as the No. 574 prospect nationally in the Rivals Industry rankings. He also ranks as the No. 17 recruit in the state of Louisiana and the No. 54 player at the EDGE position.
Addison also received scholarship offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Mississippi State, North Carolina, TCU, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, and others.
As a junior at Franklin Parish in 2024, Addison recorded 63 total tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles. Offensively, Addison plays tight end for the Patriots and amassed 41 receptions for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns throughout his high school career (21.7 yards per catch).
Addison joins fellow three-star EDGE Cory House Jr. as the two prospects currently committed to Michigan State’s 2026 class who are expected to play the rush end position under Wilt’s tutelage.
With Addison now in the fold, Michigan State’s 2026 class currently includes 22 scholarship commitments as of press time and ranks 28th nationally.
Addison joins four-star quarterback Kayd Coffman, four-star wide receiver Tyren Wortham, four-star offensive tackle Collin Campbell, three-star offensive tackle Quinn Buckey, three-star offensive tackle Tristan Comer, three-star offensive lineman Eli Bickel, three-star tight end Eddie Whiting, three-star tight end Joey Caudill, three-star wide receiver Zachary Washington, three-star wide receiver Samson Gash, three-star defensive tackle Christopher Knauls Jr., three-star defensive end/EDGE Fameitau Siale, three-star EDGE Cory House Jr., three-star safety Brayden Thomas, three-star safety Jordan Vann, three-star safety Eliyjah Caldwell-Hardy, three-star cornerback TJ Umenyiora, three-star cornerback Kelsey Deriso, three-star cornerback Jeremiah Favorite, three-star linebacker Braylon Hodge and three-star linebacker Adam Shaw.
MSU also has a commitment from class of 2026 preferred walk-on athlete Jack Lansing III.
