Rutgers Football has suffered another Transfer Portal hit to start the offseason, as edge rusher Jordan Walker became the latest player to announce his plans to leave, he announced on social media.

The 6-foot-4, 268-pound defensive end hails from Rochester, New York and attended Rush-Henrietta High School before doing a prep year at Milford Academy. After his prep season, Walker decided to walk on at Rutgers as a member of the 2022 class.

Walker originally enrolled at Rutgers in 2022 as a tight end and after two seasons with the program, he moved to edge and that’s where he really took off. In his two seasons as an edge rusher, Walker appeared in 24 games and made five starts, while posting 47 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks and one fumble recovery.

He led the team with four sacks in 2024, breaking through as the team’s top pass rusher, including multiple big plays in the team’s defensive turnaround. In 2025, he registered 28 tackles — 2.5 for loss — with a sack and fumble recovery. His transition from a wide receiver — especially as a walk-on — to a defensive playmaker was one of the developmental highlights of the last three seasons at the position.

According to PFF, Walker was the second-highest rated edge rusher at Rutgers in both 2024 and 2025. This past season, he posted a defensive grade of 65.9, to go along with a 67.2 rush defense grade, a 87.8 tackling grade, and a 61.2 pass rush grade.

Walker will have one year of eligibility remaining to play elsewhere.
