For the first time in eight years, the No. 1 UConn women’s basketball team (1-0) will unveil their 2024-2025 National Championship banner against the Florida State Seminoles (2-0) on Sunday.

Game Time, TV channel, How to Watch:

WHO: Florida State Seminoles vs. UConn Huskies
WHEN: Sunday, 4:30 p.m. ET
WHERE: Harry A. Gampel Pavilion OR Fox Sports 1

Even though this is not Head Coach Geno Auriemma’s first time celebrating a championship run, this one feels a little different.

“It feels a little bit more detached. I’m almost looking at it from the outside as opposed to being on the inside,” said Auriemma. “The No. 12 is not a big deal for me. The 30-year gap is a big deal that generally doesn’t happen.”

When it comes to the players, this is every member’s first time experiencing this moment. Compared to past winning campaigns, Auriemma does not see that same desire to return to the promised land.

“When I see angst, I think of the Asjha [Jones], Tamika [Williams], Sue [Bird] team, who lost in 2001. That angst was in the locker room; it was on the plane,” said Auriemma. “There may be [a desire] inside, but I don’t see it like we pay attention to more detail and I don’t know whether that’s good or bad.”

Heading into Sunday’s clash, UConn is favored to win, as they own a 10-0 record versus the Seminoles. The two programs last clashed in the 2022-2023 stretch, when Connecticut defeated FSU 85-77 at a neutral site.

Since then, neither squad looks the same. Currently, only two of seven players who participated in that matchup are on the 2025-2026 roster. As for the Seminoles, everyone from the 2022-2023 season departed.

For the Huskies, converting on three-pointers is a must. While facing the Louisville Cardinals on Tuesday, Connecticut collectively splashed only four of 26 (15.4%) tries from deep.

In Florida’s contest with the Georgia Southern Eagles, the team saw similar results from beyond the arc. In total, FSU buried eight of 24 (33.3%) shot attempts from downtown.

Two players to watch out for are the guards Sydney Bowles and Solé Williams. Against the Eagles, the duo contributed 30 of the program’s 80-point victory.

Bowles ended the day, knocking down four of seven (57.1%) field goals and nailing two of four (50%) tries from long range. Williams banked just one of five (20%) two-pointers but drained three of six (50%) deep shots and went four-for-four from the free throw line.

Fans can tune into the battle on Fox Sports 1, with tipoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
