UConn Football RB Mel Brown set to enter Transfer Portal
UConn Football has taken another Transfer Portal hit ahead of the upcoming offseason, as running back Jayden “Mel” Brown becomes the latest player to announce his plans to leave, sources tell On3.
The 5-foot-8, 173-pound running back hails from Stone Mountain, Georgia and attended Miller Grove High School before committing to Gardner Webb as a member of the 2021 recruiting class.

During his two years with the Bulldogs, Brown rushed for 1,088 total yards and averaged 5.8 yards per carry. He arrived at UConn ahead of the 2024 season, where he appeared in all 13 games and rushed 118 times for 673 yards and two touchdowns. This past season, Brown appeared in just four games, while preserving his redshirt. In those four games, he rushed 26 times for 229 yards and two more scores.
Brown will have one year of eligibility remaining to play elsewhere.
