Stone Bridge High School (Virginia) three-star defensive back Xavier Wimbush has decommitted from UConn Football and flipped his commitment to Colorado State, he informed the UConn Report.

He was pledged to the Huskies since July 4th following an Official Visit to campus in early June, where he chose UConn Football over the likes of offers from programs as Bryant, Buffalo, Hampton, Liberty, Monmouth, Morgan State, Old Dominion, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Sacred Heart.

“Thank you UCONN for all of your support and opportunities, but after much consideration I will be flipping my commitment to Colorado State University,” Wimbush said on Twitter/X.

Wimbush will be joining the Huskies former head coach in Jim Mora, as he recently announced that he was leaving Storrs to take over as the leader of the Colorado State football program.

With the news of Wimbush flipping, he becomes the ninth prospect to decommit from the Huskies this recruiting cycle.

This news also leaves the 2026 recruiting class with just seven total commits. The Huskies 2026 class is currently ranked No. 123 in the country per the Rivals Industry rankings.
