Cincinnati (Oh.) Anderson 2027 defensive back Mark Madden already held an offer from West Virginia but came to Morgantown for the 7-on-7 tournament and learned more about the school.

Madden, 5-foot-10, 165-pounds, received the offer from the Mountaineers in January, but his stop on campus gave him a chance for even more insight into the program.

“The tour they took us on was great,” he said.

One of the things that stood out to Madden was how the coaching staff carried themselves and made him feel at home while he was in Morgantown. It was his first time visiting campus and it gave him some perspective on how the coaching staff operated.

“A great environment and a new experience for me being up there,” he said.

Madden spent time with cornerbacks coach Rod West and he let him know more about the campus and how he could fit into the defense at the safety position. That is the primary position that he lined up at during the 7-on-7 as well and helped to lead his team to a championship.

“He was a good person on and off the field,” he said.

Moving forward, Madden said that West Virginia is a program that will remain on his list of options and the visit only helped to further his thoughts on the school.

“Definitely a school I’m interested in,” he said.

The plan for Madden is to make it back to West Virginia for a visit on a game day in order to see what that experience is like in Morgantown.
