West Virginia has landed a major commitment on the offensive front with a pledge from Butler C.C. (Kan.) 2026 offensive tackle Deshawn Woods.

Woods, 6-foot-5, 265-pounds, picked the Mountaineers over offers from Washington State, Tulsa, Texas State, Akron, North Texas, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee and a number of others.

The Rivals three-star prospect took an official visit to Morgantown over the weekend and that was enough to land his commitment giving the program a talented offensive tackle option.

Offensive line coach Jack Bicknell served as the lead recruiter for Woods and the Mountaineers initially jumped into the mix with a scholarship offer Oct. 5. Things only continued to build from there leading to his official visit to campus on the final weekend before the early signing period.

A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Woods initially committed to Missouri out of high school before signing with Wyoming. He would then enter the transfer portal and ended up at Butler.

Woods has two seasons of eligibility remaining and is the latest addition to a talented offensive line group for the Mountaineers in the 2026 recruiting class.

Woods becomes the sixth commitment on the offensive line in this cycle.

WVSports.com will have more with Woods in the near future.
