West Virginia has landed a commitment from Coffeyville C.C. (Kan.) 2026 safety Da’Mare Williams following an official visit to Morgantown.

Williams, 6-foot-2, 180-pounds, initially committed to Kentucky but still elected to take an official visit to Morgantown which led to his decision to back off that pledge. That led to a commitment to the Mountaineers giving the program an in-demand junior college safety.

The North Carolina native also held offers from Kentucky, UCF, Houston and several others.

The Mountaineers are targeting Williams as a free safety, and the program initially extended a scholarship offer in September. The coaches are impressed with how he flies around the field and his playmaking ability.

The junior college safety recorded 39 tackles and 2 interceptions this past season.

Safeties coach Gabe Franklin served as the lead recruiter for Williams and developed a close bond with him throughout the course of the process.

Williams is a December graduate with three years remaining in his career.

WVSports.com will have more with Williams in the near future.
