OL Landen Livingston adjusting to tempo, mindset
West Virginia center Landen Livingston has become accustomed to stepping outside his comfort zone.
It’s a requirement to play under Rich Rodriguez as he demands his players to play with a hard edge and be mentally stronger than the opposition.
“We have to make sure that in anything we do we go out there and know that your uncomfortable is our comfortable,” he said. “It’s something that we always say and something we’ll take into the season.”
Livingston has been focusing on his conditioning given the fast-paced nature of Rodriguez’s offense and he believes that he is in the best position on that front that he has been in since he arrived on campus. That is critical given the way that West Virginia wants to play.
“When it gets to the fourth quarter if we’re down and need a score that I’ll be in the condition and have the condition to go do so,” he said.
On top of conditioning, communication is critical as well in order to get the offensive line playing together. With 12-14 new pieces on the front, they are building a connection and a bond.
“Having the correct communication throughout the season is definitely something we put a priority on,” Livingston said.
That is especially important with the offense being so fast paced.
“You got to make sure you think even during the hard parts of the game. That’s something we really kind of focused on, making sure we’re in really good condition so we’ll be able to do that,” he said.
