Boise State outfielder Sophia Knight intends to enter transfer portal

One of the top hitters in college softball will be playing elsewhere in 2026. Boise State outfielder Sophia Knight announced on her Instagram that she plans on putting her name into the transfer portal when it opens on May 18. She wrote this on her Instagram:
“Boise State…You will always hold a special place in my heart. These past two years have been filled with growth, love, and countless blessings. From the very beginning, you welcomed me with open arms and made this place feel like home.
After much prayer and reflection, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to enter the transfer portal. This has been the hardest decision of my life, but I’m trusting that God is leading me into a new chapter for a reason.
To the coaches, staff, teammates, and everyone who supported me—thank you. You’ve poured into me, challenged me, and helped me become stronger both on and off the field. I’m forever grateful for every relationship and every memory.

Most importantly, I want to thank Jesus. Through Rock Harbor Church, my faith has deepened in ways I never imagined. I’ve come to know Christ in a more personal and powerful way, and I couldn’t be more thankful for how He’s moved in my life during my time here. Boise will always be home, and I’ll carry the love, lessons, and faith I found here wherever I go.”
Knight was a Softball America Freshman All-American and Mountain West Freshman of the Year in 2024. She hovered over a .500 batting average for most of this season, finishing third in the nation with a .486 batting average. The Huntington Beach product also had eight doubles, five triples and 27 stolen bases.
